For the outdoor enthusiast, Belize presents unlimited opportunities. Located in Central America’s Caribbean coast, Belize has a population estimate of 270,000 people with Belmopan her capital city. It’s a country of various cultures, languages and ethnic groups, English being the official language though Spanish is spoken by almost half of the population. Every destination in Belize has its share of archaeological and national parks, marine and nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries. If you plan to stay for some time, Belize has few first class hotels, but smaller establishments give good value. There are mountain lodges in the interior and resort hotels on the Caribbean Coast. Budget options range from simple guest houses to basic beach cabins. If you prefer self catering, then renting an apartment on a monthly basis is never a bad idea. Eritrea, officially the State of Eritrea, is a country in Northeast Africa. The east and northeast of the country have an extensive coastline on the Red Sea and she has an estimated population of 5 million people whose official languages are Tigrinya and Arabic and the capital is Asmara. Visitors who check into this small yet adventure full country can make their abode in one of the several good hotels especially in Asmara. Similar standard hotels can be found in Massawa and Assab. There are also hotels and guest houses in smaller towns whose prices are generally slightly lower than for those in the main centres. When making reservations, check for service charges and sales taxes. Hotel bills must be paid in hard currency known as Nakfa. Credit cards are accepted in major hotels, airlines and major travel agencies. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the Commercial Bank of Eritrea in Asmara which provides the best exchange rate, private exchange offices and major hotels. Major Banks and hotels in Asmara and Massawa accept traveller’s cheques, US Dollar traveller’s cheques being the most recommended.
