Sharing a house can have so numerous advantages, both financial, and personal. First of all, its a way of sharing the cost of rent, bills, & food. Secondly, it is a fantastic way to meet new people in a new place and experience new and different cultures, whilst further gaining your independence. When living with people in a houseshare, there may be many great moments and hitting the city lights every weekend with your housemates may be the highlight of your week. Unfortunately, many houseshares are unnecessarily ruined by disputes over doing chores around the house, or NOT doing chores around the house! It is essential that all housemates agree an acceptable level of cleanliness, which may of course end up relaxed at weekends, when there are the inevitable distractions to cleanliness, such as friends staying over, hangovers, pizza boxes, sprawls of weekend newspapers and the like. These mundane details regarding cleanliness however are often overlooked when interviewing new housemates, especially when they are friends. It is often take for granted that all the chores such as cleaning the bathroom, washing up, buying teabags and hoovering will "just get done".
