Perhaps if we had a new definition for obsession, it would not be so troublesome to recognize that folk could be troubled by a sickness that will ultimately destroy their lives. We've all heard that obsession is an illness, but how do we truly feel about this issue? When you hear the word'addict', do you concentrate on an addict, crack addict, prostitute, or a broke person who begs for money on a street corner? When you here the word addict, do you consider a lowlife, who has less than suitable behaviors, and lower morals? Do you somehow believe that their life circumstance is their fault and they could,'just say no?' A successful Head honcho, counsel, doctor, or pro with a drug abuse problem, would not fall into the class of addict according to the stereotypical definition. Pre-eminence in other venues has an inclination to assure the pro that he's going to be ready to also handle this problem too particularly when he compares himself to addicts who have bottomed out and not entered a drug rehab.

It is estimated that one in thirteen people in the UK are dependent upon alcohol. Nearly everyone knows of someone who has, to some extent, battled with this particular addiction, one that drives those affected to drink large amounts of alcohol, and to experience withdrawal symptoms if they do not take it regularly. It is also well known that over time the excessive consumption of alcohol can have a detrimental affect on a persons health. Short-term affects include anxiety, memory loss and nausea, while long-term alcohol abuse can increase the risk of a person contracting cancer, liver disease and pancreatitis as well as potentially developing some form of mental illness, such as depression or memory loss. The good thing is that recovering from alcohol addiction is possible, but first and foremost is that of admission; that a person recognises that they have a problem with alcohol. Only once a person admits that they have a problem can they begin on the road to recovery. Alcohol Dependency In moderation, alcohol can, for some, enhance the quality of life. Often consumed with friends and family in social situations, where we celebrate, commiserate and relax.
A lot of concepts have seen a transformation in past two centuries and one of them is change in moral and cultural values of societies. Use of Alcohol was earlier seen as a status symbol, but with time, it turned into a form of addiction for many. Reasons and factors did vary from regions and different cultures. Regrettably, it took more time to understand that alcoholism is a drug addiction. "Because we have been led to believe that drug addiction or alcohol addiction is a disease. We have been told that the only way to "recuperate" is to attend treatment and endless AA, NA meetings for the rest of our lives. " Any drug addiction as well as alcohol addiction is not a disease rather a choice. One does not has to be a passive bystander to an illusory disease of drug addiction or alcohol addiction; one should give up his willpower; be marked as an alcoholic or "in recovery"; or turn up meetings and treatment for the rest of his/her life! Those that are struggling with alcohol addiction or any other drug addiction reach to a conclusion that larlgely the typical thinking is not working in their favour.
The increased number of young drug addicts in America is because drugs are spreading like an epidemic. One should not only worry about the street drugs by cheap drug sellers. But there are also drugs that are sold legally which only requires a prescription to buy. The worst part is that teenagers have access to these drugs with any hurdles. Similarly, alcohol addiction starts with a pack of beer or two. Not to forget the same beers those are advertised on national television. Smoking leads to cancer yet we see a lot of fancy ads on the television and the internet. And when the cigarette manufacturers and sellers are questioned for selling such a product, they reply by saying we put the warning labels on the packs but yet the consumers love it. Then comes the products manufactured by research and pharmaceutical companies. Companies with approvals from legalizing organization distribute all kinds of body and mind relaxing products. Drug addiction has become a virus now that is constantly evolving all over the globe. No matter how hard the government tries with its “anti-drug campaigns” and television commercials, it does not seem to affect the youth.
